Okaloosa Island (Ft. Walton Beach, Florida)
Okaloosa Island is a delightful
barrier island located just south of
Ft. Walton
Beach. Many restaurants and pubs are nearby in Ft.
Walton and several are on
the island. We consider it to be bicycle
friendly
residential island. You can walk your bike across the
bridge and explore interesting areas
of the city. Large food
stores are just across the
bridge or
nearby. The BEACHES ARE
SUPER!!! White sand and
colored clear gulf
waters await you!
The beaches are much wider,
used, and more
visitor friendly than
others. The access street (Santa Rosa Blvd.) is a
dead end road
that terminates at the Air Force boundary. The military
property is
unchanged and natural and provides a beach
unmolested by
developers. It's a walk on a beach the way it
was many years ago.
Destin, Florida & Miramar Beach area
Located only six miles east of Fort Walton Beach is Destin. The
same white sand
beaches and emerald green clear gulf waters.
The largest
designer outlet mall, Silver Sands Outlet Mall, is located
just east of
Destin. Or check out the Antique stores!
The Destin Harbor
is home to a fine fishing fleet that is available for
your fishing trip
or just a ride on the Gulf. Or, try the wooden pirate
sailing ships for a
sunset cruise! From Mardi Gras to Seafood festivals
to fishing
tournaments; you'll find them at the Destin Harbor.
Excellent seafood
restaurants & other cuisines abound. Or, buy your
"catch"
